Olden Day Activities

My children often ask what activities we did when we were young (because it was the "old days" and things were sooooo different).
This question gets asked when they are bored. Even all the toys they have full of batteries, noise and movement doesn't stop this from happening!
Hopscotch was a favourite "way back then", and really is one of those classic activities that is simple, but keeps the kids active and amused.

This week the driveway has been full of different size Hopscotch, as well as drawings with chalk.

Treats of Tasmania - Patchwork Cafe

We have some fantastic shops, cafe, hotels, parks, etc in Tasmania worth bragging about. I thought it only fair that I share some of these with you from time to time. I am starting this series off with a lovely cafe in the Derwent Valley which also appeals to the craft minded.

Patchwork Cafe is situated at 15 George street, New Norfolk. It is nestled amongst the lush greenery, tucked behind the Motel. You are almost transported to another world as you near the cafe. Away from the busy streets of the town, surrounded by hints of yesteryear and a landscaped garden, this gorgeous wooden building is very inviting. This building was originally part of Willow Court, parts of which are reputed to be older than Port Arthur.

Whether you are seated inside or out in the garden, the view is lush and tranquil. The coffee is of high standard, and the cakes, slices and light snacks top it off nicely. The cafe also stocks small gift items, but is know, as the name suggests, for it fabrics, quilting supplies and classes.

You are sure to be made welcome.

You can see more photos and it's location on it's Facebook page. Here are some I took today.

I like to dream

I like to dream. About things that most likely may not happen.

Is it silly to waste my time, thinking of something out of my reach? Not for me!

I like to dream about houses. Ones out of my budget.
This has been a part of me since childhood.
My parents still have sketchbooks of mine with picture upon picture of house plans. The house plans show furniture and the gardens are landscaped.
I love looking at house plans and pictures of the finished product. I even like changing the house plans to suit my situation. I think this has boosted my creativity and imagination skills.

I also love renovating shows. Whether it be the shows that change one room, or the shows that start with a mess and come out with a masterpiece. I love the garden reno shows too. As well as the auctions shows and shows of people looking to buy a house. I love them all. Is it silly to be so infatuated by something that may never be mine. I don't think so. To dream is to live in hope. To keep the imagination alive.

Did you know that there are many suggested benefits to daydreaming?
It is said that daydreaming can be thought of as a form of meditation. Taking the mind away from current issues and thoughts.
The more you daydream, the more you may see the possibility of making your dreams happen.
Daydreaming can also help to find solutions and brainstorm.
Daydreaming is a way to boost your mood by taking yourself to a happier, nicer place.

What do you like to dream about?

When do you do your best blog thinking?

When I should be doing something else, I am thinking of my next blog post. When I meant to be going to sleep, when I'm driving, when I'm hanging out the washing, when I'm at WORK!

When everything is quiet, and I am up first in the morning is when I can do my best writing. The ideas and story lines are coming all of the time though.
Sometimes, I should be switching off and going to sleep and before I know it, I have practically written a blog post in my head and even named it.

If I don't right these thoughts and ideas down then by the time I get a chance to blog them, they are gone. This drives my crazy because often, I am not near a sticky note or my computer when I get my wave of creativity.

That's where my phone comes in handy.
If I record these things on Evernote, then the ideas are recorded and can be expanded on at a later date. i drive my husband notes flicking on the light to put notes in Evernote.

I'm dying to know how other bloggers cope with the constant ideas popping into your head? Do you record it or is it gone again? When do you do your best writing?
